Giveaway & Interview with Urban Fantasy author Brynn Myers

Hello, readers!

I have had the pleasure to interview another fabulous author whom I just love. I hope you enjoy her interview and learn about her fascinating new series. After the interview, she is graciously offering five free copies of her book Entasy!

1. What’s one habit you have while writing? (i.e. listening to music, drinking coffee, rambling to yourself, writing in bed, on paper, etc.)

I have always had to have noise in the background. I usually turn the T.V. on in my office and find a show that won’t be too distracting.

2. What made you want to become a writer?

I had no idea I wanted to be a writer. I’ve always had stories in my head and often wondered how they would play out if they actually occurred, but that was it until I joined a book group on Shelfari. For fun, we took traits of our favorite characters and created our own unique personas. It was then that Kira, now Kylah, was born. 😀 I was drawn into creating stories from that moment on. I clearly fell down the rabbit hole without another thought and have been writing ever since.

3. Tell us about your debut-novel, Entasy. What kind of book is it and what’s it about?

Entasy is the prequel to the Prophecies of The Nine series. It was meant to be the backstory of Kylah’s life…her modern life and the life she had no idea existed. Entasy is a big teaser…it leaves a lot of questions hanging but I will be clearing up any and all confusion in January. 😀

Kylah is the granddaughter of two Celtic goddesses but due to a tragedy Kylah’s memories were taken to protect her. She has no idea who she really is but soon she will find out…soon she will have to confront her past in order to save her future.

4. Did you model your characters after anyone in particular?

LOL! Well, I can honestly say that have added traits or characteristics of those close to me into my characters. I have some amazing people in my life and it seemed perfectly logical to make them a part of my artistic creation.

5. What inspired you to write Entasy?

When Kira and Dex, the original names of Kylah and Aerric, were born, they were both vampires. Dex sired Kira and things went from there, but as these characters evolved in my mind, I no longer saw them as vampires. So, when I combined the traits of the original characters with my love of Celtic mythology, boom…Kylah and Aerric were born and Obsydian and the rest of The Nine were added them to the mix to create the Prophecies series.

6. When is the sequel to Entasy coming out and can you tell us about it?

Redemption is the first book in the series. It takes place weeks after where Entasy left off. A lot happened to Kylah in Entasy and now she will have to figure out her place amongst her family and The Nine. Redemption will clear up the many questions that the prequel left hanging and of course create more. *smirk* Entasy was told in the first person perspective to let the reader try and get into the mind of those who will have a driving force in this series. The rest of the series (nine more books) will all be told from third person point of view.

Redemption by Brynn Myers

Kylah’s mind has been freed and her power unleashed. She is once again the loose cannon she was two hundred years ago. Everyone she loves is waiting for her to take her rightful place among The Nine. But if Kylah can’t control her guilt, her anger, and her conflicting desires, she may yet again ruin the lives of those she loves.

After spending two hundred years thinking his mate was dead, Aerric finally has the love of his life back in his arms and in his bed. But after realizing Kylah willingly made the choice to leave him all those years ago, his heaven quickly turned to hell. Truths are revealed and tempers flare, leaving their happily ever after on the verge of ashes.

Thank you so much for letting me interview you, Brynn! It was great to learn about your series. It’s such a unique idea, and I love hearing more about your books.

The Fallen King

It’s almost here! I can practically taste it. Of course, I’ve been writing Alrik’s story for nearly two months now. I know everyone who read Ties That Bind probably let out a little scream of frustration at all that happened to the dark and troubled character at the end of the book.

Well, lucky for all of us, Alrik wouldn’t leave me alone. Remember when I told ya’ll about the new ‘bodyguard’ series I wanted to write? Heck, I even wrote several chapters into it (check out Playin’ for Keeps). So, even though I didn’t really want to, I set aside Playin’ for Keeps so that Alrik could shut up in my head.

I think all of you fans of The Bellum Sisters Trilogy will not be disappointed with this book. Alrik is one intense and interesting demon. Pair him off with a smart, funny & sexy witch/human and…let’s just say a lot of fun stuff happens.

Anyway, back to the point of this post. The Fallen King will be finished in a few weeks and from there on out it’ll be revised and edited by me and several others until it looks all shiny and perfect.

So here are some fun things you can look forward to start…soon:

  • Book cover reveal for The Fallen King
  • Blurb reveal
  • More snippets coming your way
  • The official release date to be named (I’m looking at the 21st or 28th!)
  • A preview at my next/new series (another very different paranormal series)
  • Cover reveal for my next series — The Untouchables
  • Chains of Frost print copies to be given away
  • The Black Friday Blog Hop where I will give away more prizes
  • The book launch for The Fallen King where I will give away free copies of the book and other things for some help in spreading the word!

Whew. Is that all?

Probably not. I’ve been busy and these next few months are going to be even more so as The Fallen King’s release date nears.

So, stay tuned, ladies and gents. Subscribe here, follow me on Facebook and Twitter and get the latest news as I send it!

Happy reading, everyone!

2nd Grand Prize: A $130 Amazon or B&N Gift Card

3rd Grand Prize: The following Swag Pack!

He’s covered with muscles. His voice is deep and causes shivers down your body. His eyes are intense and knowing. He’s smart, funny, strong, violent, powerful, demanding, controlling, selfish, and most of all, he wants one woman—only one. He is the Alpha Male.

An Alpha male is possessive, wanting the heroine only for himself; or, if he shares, it must be with someone he trusts to have his back at all times. He should be strong, seductive, and wicked. He should say things that make our toes curl and our heart pound, things that would make you blush if said amidst company.

What may make you prefer the Alpha Males from ones book series over another comes down to your personal preference. Do you like your Alpha’s snarky, sarcastic and funny? Does it make you flip the pages faster when he’s violent, especially in protecting or rescuing his woman? Do you like him smart or more primitive? There are so many possibilities here, and I think that’s why we don’t get sick of reading about Alpha Males. They change, they evolve, they’re different from writer to writer and series to series. But they are always bad-ass, unapologetic, and they always want the heroine, even if he doesn’t want to want her.

For me, I’ve taken an array of my favorite versions of the Alpha Male and wrote them into stories. I have even more scratching to get out of my head to which I have to ruthlessly shove them down and tell them to wait their turn!

Watching them come to life and seeing how their female counterpoints quip with the alpha back and forth in a match of wits and strength is the ultimate glory. Reading the tension grow between the alpha and the woman he wants or hates to want is what makes me fly through the pages. With this theory in mind, I created The Bellum Sisters Trilogy.

In book one, Chains of Frost, a funny and independent succubus finds a challenge in the icy, stoic demeanor of vampire commander Tyrian en Kulev. He’s sexy beyond belief; with a look he can make her blood pump, and with a touch he can command her body until she craves more. And she does—a lot more—even as he tries to shut her out to protect himself. Tyrian is strong, powerful, smart, and deep inside, lonely.

In Bonds of Fire and Ties That Bind, the final two books in The Bellum Sisters Trilogy, we see a shapeshifter Alpha named Lyonis Keelan who will stop at nothing to get his woman—Willow Bellum. He is controlling, possessive to the point of smothering, and strong enough mentally and physically to dominate the strong and resistant Willow Bellum. Yet, he has a kind and generous heart that Willow cannot deny touches her. In Ties That Bind, the Alpha, a demon named Telal Demuzi, is resistant, sarcastic, and has a strong wall of willpower to resist the charming Lily Bellum. Luckily, she’s persistent and will not stop until she captures his heart. Telal’s disinterested attitude wavers and his true motives and big heart shines through to Lily.

But, just having these strong masculine traits in a man would make him fall flat. There must be depth and dimension to him. Women don’t want a chest beating ape of a man, right ladies? So we have to ask questions.

Why is the strong shapeshifter violent? What causes him to get violent when he sees a woman in pain? What drives him with the need to hurt the one who hurt the female? In the case of Tyrian and his loneliness, it’s up to Chloe to discover why this vampire commander, a leader of a vampire army, is lonely. He’s gorgeous and smart, strong in ways other men would envy, and he could have any woman waiting at his feet. So why doesn’t he? That’s up to Chloe to learn, and that’s the challenge that Tyrian must overcome in order to accept a second chance at life and love.

Alpha males can come in many different shapes and forms. They can be a sexy, bad ass police officer, or a supernatural vampire. We’ve all read and devoured the stories of these Alpha Males and we will continue to read them because they call to us on an earthly level. They are what we crave.

So, tell me readers, who are your favorite Alpha Males. One of my favorites, aside from Tyrian, Lyonis, and Telal from The Bellum Sisters Trilogy, would have to be Lothaire from Kresley Cole. He’s a man who will not apologize for his wrong doings. He’s lethal, sexy and you can’t help but root for him.

In honor of the Alpha Male blog hop being hosted by Carrie Ann at her blog, I am giving away three copies of Chains of Frost. Your book will be sent in ebook format (PDF or ePUB) so you can read it however you want. Just leave a comment stating who your favorite Alpha Male is and be sure to leave your email so I can notify you if you win! The winner will be picked randomly from the day following the end of the blog hop (Oct. 23).

An Interview with Paranormal YA author Tish Thawer

Hello, everyone!

Today is an exciting day for me–it’s the first ever author interview I’ve conducted. Today, I’d like to welcome everyone to Tish Thawer the author of the YA series, The Rose Trilogy, and the new series, Ovialell.

Let’s dive right in!

TA: What’s one habit you have while writing? (i.e. listening to music, drinking coffee, rambling to yourself, writing in bed, on paper, etc.)

Tish: Usually I do my best writing while sitting in my sun room with incense lit and “spa” type instrumentals playing in the background.

TA: What made you want to become a writer?

Tish: I developed a deep love of reading over the last ten years; the joy of being transported to another world was something I’ve always been drawn to, even as a kid, so when inspiration struck…I jumped in feet first!

TA: Tell us about The Rose Trilogy. What kind of series is it and what is it about?

Tish: The Rose Trilogy is a mature YA paranormal romance. It’s about a young woman who’s in love with a vampire, but carries many secrets that could threaten their relationship and ultimately their lives.

Here’s the tag line:

What if vampires were the good guys and a human girl was the one to fear?

TA: Did you model your characters after anyone in particular?

No I didn’t.

TA: What inspired you to write The Rose Trilogy?

Tish: I actually woke up from a dream with the title of the first book in my head, and within seconds I though of the other two as well. I immediately knew it would be about a girl named Rose and her journey from an innocent “white” Rose, to a guilty “red” Rose, and finally to a dark “black” Rose.

TA: You have a new book available called Prophecy’s Child. Can you tell us about it?

Tish: Prophecy’s Child is a short-story companion to the Ovialell series, which provides back story to one of the side-characters in the main series.

Here’s the tag line:

The end of a race…

The beginning of history…

The birth of a warrior.

TA: I know you just had a new release, but when can we expect your next book and what will it be?

Tish:  Aradia Awakens, which is Book One in the Ovialell series, is due out November 6, 2012.

Tish, thank you so much for letting me interview you. You were my first I shall always remember it. 😉

The Bellum Sisters Trilogy – Book Trailer

Acclaim for The Bellum Sisters Trilogy:

“T. A. Grey’s “The Bellum Sisters Trilogy” is a provocative look into the lives of three young women as they come of age in a paranormal world. Ms. Grey’s world is not only magical, but erotic, enchanted, and deadly. In addition to the fiercely passionate female characters, Grey creates a fresh cast of male counterpoints who are seductive, gritty, rugged, and noble. “The Bellum Sisters Trilogy” is an encouraging start to a promising new series.  I look forward to reading more from Ms. Grey in the future.” copyright 2012 by Amber L. Barr

“Having never read a novel by this author before, I was delighted to pick up this novel. It [Chains of Frost] is extremely fast paced and never slows down. The story flows beautifully together, and will lead perfectly into the second novel. This is a truly enchanting novel that will grab the interest of readers everywhere and will not let go.” Night Owl Romance

“Bonds of Fire is, as I previously mentioned, the second book in the trilogy of the Bellum sisters. It is a wonderful story, moving fast and never stopping for anything. It ties in beautifully to the previous book, with the stories blending with each other, and working together to build the third novel, which is forthcoming. Romance lovers everywhere will adore this book (and the series) as much as I have.” Night Owl Romance.

“Ties That Bind is a hair-raising, nail biting, heartwarming adventure of the grandest scale. Of all three of the Bellum sisters, Lily would have to be my personal favorite, as she is charming, quirky, and not a little bit spunky and outrageous. She is also still a delicate and unsure young lady. This is a perfect conclusion to the Bellum sisters trilogy, and I absolutely loved it.” Night Owl Romance
